The Bell Inn at Chittlehampton is a child, dog and
family- friendly village pub.
We have two patio areas, one
over-looking the lawns,
both with seating. The children will enjoy themselves in the large sunny garden
where there are swings and plenty of room to run off all that energy while you
enjoy a quiet drink! Adjoining the garden is the orchard, where the alpacas
live.
The Bell's beer garden and orchard back on to fields, currently occupied by
horses, cows and sheep. A public footpath runs through the field and wonderful
countryside views can be enjoyed.
There are alpacas living peacefully in the orchard. They came from the alpaca
farm in the village and now graze in the orchard.
Alpacas are one of four members of the camel family (camelids) found in South
America today. Vicuñas and guanacos are wild camelids. Alpacas and llamas are
domesticated camelids. All four are thought to be descendants of a common
ancestor which became extinct some 12,000 years ago. They produce highly sought
after wool.
Children can watch them in the orchard while playing on the swings or anywhere
in the grassy play area..
