Mark and
Lynn welcome you to The Bell at Chittlehampton ~ a child
and dog-friendly traditional local North Devon pub recently refurbished
with modern facilities such as a dining Conservatory
and easy disabled access. Although we are a non-smoking pub, we
do have a smoking area.
There is a
large garden to the rear with a play area for children, next
to an orchard where alpacas graze.
All set in the heart of
the beautiful North Devon Countryside.
The Bell has been in The
Square, Chittlehampton, since 1888 and run by the same family for the last 30 years.
Sitting outside at the front looks out across the Square to the historic St Heiritha's
Parish Church which
is dedicated to the memory of St Hieritha. She
was a local Christian martyred for her faith in the 6th century. Over the next few hundred
years the church became a place of pilgrimage and, considering the size of this small
community, grew to almost 'cathedral like' proportions.

the history of Chittlehampton, click here.
With its individually
prepared meals using only local butchers and fresh farm produce,
and new live-in chef Norman Watson, Mark and Lynn are sure
the mouth-watering fayre (with Kids' menu too) at The Bell has
something for everyone. As well as being the only Camra Highly Recommened Pub for miles
around, the children will love playing on the swings in the beer garden and enjoy watching
the alpacas grazing in the orchard. Accommodation
is now available for those wishing to make The Bell their North Devon base. |
